  Again, this is that same chart showing unemployment and recessions 1973-74 : The DOW was high early 1973 as the pro-choice, anti-draft Libertarian Party got an electoral vote. Women became rightful individuals a couple of weeks later and the U.S. was driven out of Vietnam as unemployment dropped to 1960 levels. Nixon's Watergate burglars soon dominated the news until mid-October , when a Brussels bank was investigated for odd exchange transactions with German banks.( link ) The  New York Dow Jones average dropped from 1000 to about 600. Germany down from 800 to 550. France dropped from 100 to below 50. London dropped from 500 to 175. Italy showed wild zigzags, net loss. Holland dropped from 170 to below 100. Australia dropped from 650 to 75. Canada fell from 220 to below 150. Japan down from 410 to 275. Hong Kong 1000, spiked to 1800, then dropped to about 220...
